About the RAF Emblem
The Royal Air Force records that the original agreement to adopt an RAF badge was made by the Air Council on 1 August 1918. The RAF also records a design approved by King George V in 1922, followed by the first College of Arms record in 1923; that record used a plain circlet in place of the earlier garter-and-buckle form.
This display frame reproduces the RAF emblem in its King's Crown form. The variant is intended for decorative display and is not an item of military uniform or official-issue service insignia.
