The Black Watch cap badge is built around a rayed and faceted star associated with the Order of the Thistle, framed by a thistle wreath and bearing the motto Nemo me impune lacessit. At the centre is St Andrew holding his saltire cross, with the Crown above and scrolls carrying the regimental title.
